Anyone want to do a new product review that has maybe purchased one? Cabelas has em for about $80.00...They look good but are they another Corsair? Hopefully not! Or should I buy one and be the test dummy?
Check em out! http://www.shimano.com/fishing/casting/calyxcruzar.html

I'm kind of interested in these myself. I have a couple of the old bantam 201 left hands that I guard with my life but they are wearing out.

When shimano quit making those years ago it was the biggest mistake they've ever made.

Now, these calyx reels appear to be patterned after the old bantams in size and a "low profile". They're also predominantly metal which I like. What I don't see though is that they are going to offer it in left hand models.

Huge mistake if they don't!

I have just recently purchased the shimano Cronarch. This reel is the best thing I have ever spent money on! Very smooth casting, it just makes fishing that much more enjoyable for me. It maybe a little more money but is well worth the investment! You will be able to see that on your first trip out with it!!! You have to look at it this way, fishing is an expensive sport ( or I should say steelheading ), that's a fact. Spending $200.00 to $500.00 on a nice setup for you may sound like a lot of money but add in all the money you spend on getting to and from fishing and what is just in you vest, will supprise you! Now ask yourself this, add up the money you would spend on getting into another sport and you will see the difference. my $.02
tight lines!!

I have to look at it from the standpoint I buy 3 or 4 at a time. I carry about 2000.00 dollars in rods and reels in my driftboat at the same time. If you were guiding and wanted a reel that was gonna stand up and still be affordable I dont think you would buy 4 Chronarchs...I have Calcuttas and the like, with all Loomis and Lami rods so money isnt the issue. I just really wanna know if there better than the Corsair?...Do they compare in durability to the Ambassaders? And are they gonna stand up to 100 to 130 days of fishing a year? Are they designed for the avarage person or the mentally insane who have given up marriage and a family to persue a passion that is driving there life. Like me!!!
I appreciate the post though, that reel is phenominal, but they want near 900.00 dollars for the amount of them Im looking for...
